One of the best things about living in Southern California is the endless list of things to do and places to explore. Here are just a few of my favorites.

KICKS ARTIST SHOWCASE
Dailydujour recently dropped by Buff Monster’s studio for a look at his new collection of paintings for his “Legend of the Pink Cherry” solo show at the Corey Helford Gallery, opening April 14.
Telling a good vs. bad narrative that pits a new, pink ice cream cone-inspired character versus a one-eyed winged demon we’ve seen from Buff Monster in the past, it’s clear the artist is still having a good time creating his work. In addition to his narrative-based offerings that include painting and pencil drawings, he will also offer 30 smaller 5” x 7” paintings created as his homage to the Garbage Pail Kids series of collectible sticker cards. The Melty Misfits, his very own sticker card series, will be released to coincide with the show’s opening.

The shoot was in Culver City today, right outside Culver Studios. I shot a series of Miller Lite spots there years ago and had always been told the big white mansion that houses their production offices was used as Tara in “Gone With the Wind.” Being one of the three people on the planet that’s never seen the movie, I had no way of knowing that wasn’t actually true…until today. Turns out the mansion was used in the film - but only in the credits. Not quiet the same but I enjoyed the history lesson all the same.
